Well known playback singer S Janaki has declined the Padma
Bhushan award, which was announced recently. She has stated that she is indeed
happy that the government has chosen her for the award but she feels that it
has come so late in her life.
According to the 78-year-old singer, she was not interested
in the Padma honours and would accept only a Bharat Ratna.
