Minu Kurian complaints against Suresh Gopi

Actress Minu Kurian, who acted in a small role in Da Thadiya, and has been trying her luck in Tamil films ever since is in the news these days for her fight with hero Suresh Gopi.

The reason is actually a simple one and has no real connection with Suresh Gopi. Her former driver had reportedly borrowed some money from her and the guy is now working with the hero.

When she called up the hero to tell him about the issue, Suresh Gopi is alleged to have threatened her. She filed a police complaint and has started voicing her opinion through her Facebook page. This has started a debate on the social networking sites.

“Those posters are fake”: Aashiq Abu

Director Aashiq Abu has told www.nallacinema.com that "the posters which are being shown as ours, are actually fake. Our posters are the ones on my Facebook page. What can I do if some miscreants create posters like this and others come up against it?"

Idukki Gold will hit the screens on October 11.

Aashiq Abu in controversy over film posters

Director Aashiq Abu has been active in the Facebook for a while now and has effectively used in marketing through the social networking site. But at times, his comments have landed him in trouble. Like the time when his remarks against Kamal Hasan's Viswaroopam received lot of flak from angry fans.

Now, just a week before the release of his latest film, Idukki Gold, the director is in the eye of storm with some of the posters of the film hurting religious sentiments.

One of the posters has Lord Shiva and revolutionary leader Che Guevara enjoying a smoke. Then there is another poster with two "joints" made into a cross.

There are several posts in the social networking sites spitting venom against Aashiq.

Fahadh to turn director?

Fahadh Faasil, who is indeed the sensation of Malayalam films right now, has some fresh ideas. He wants to direct a film.

The actor, who is giving surprises to all with his stellar performances in every film, is keenly learning the filmmaking process, it seems.

He has plans to do his own version of one of the films that he did this year. Which one? We are not telling you right now. You come right here later to know the details.

Manju's comeback receives an early setback?

It was the most eagerly awaited announcement during recent times. Actor Manju Warrier, who stayed away from films for more than a decade after her marriage with Dileep, made her decision to return to the big screen recently. There have been rumours doing the rounds that everything is not well between the couple.

Manju came back on the dance stage first and then she did the ad campaign for Kalyan Silks, with none other than Amitabh Bachchan. But the ad was hated by almost everyone.

Meanwhile Manju has announced two films. The first one, directed by Ranjith, will have Mohanlal as her hero. The next, How Old Are You is being directed by Rosshan Andrrews with Kunchacko Boban as the male lead.

The news that Kalyan is planning to launch a new ad with Aishwarya Rai has added to the disappointment. Let's see what happens next.

Oru Indian Pranayakadha on Dec 18

Sathyan Anthikkad's latest film, Oru Indian Pranayakadhahas Fahadh Faasil and Amala Paul in the lead. Produced by Central Pictures and scripted by Dr. Iqbal Kuttippuram, the shooting of the film is going on at Kottayam now.

The film has Fahadh playing a politician, who hopes to make it big soon. His chance meeting with a Canada based documentary filmmaker changes his concepts about life.

Pranav to be launched in Mani Ratnam film?

This could be a sensation, if the news is true. Veteran director Mani Ratnam is reportedly working on a project where he will launch none other than Pranav Mohanlal!

Now, this has been one news that Malayalam movie buffs have been waiting for some time. After Mammootty's son Dulquer Salmaan rose to prominence, the next was Mohanlal's son. But the youngster never showed his interest to become an actor.

He has in fact, won the national award for his performance as a child artiste in Punarjani and he has played Mohanlal's younger version in Onnaman. Recently he was seen exchanging some stern looks with Mohanlal in a scene in the dud, Sagar Alias Jacky Reloaded.

Is the news true? Well, it could be just a speculation. But it is interesting for sure.

Drishyam to begin from Oct 2

Jeethu, who is riding high after the super show of his last release Memories, has already started working on his future projects with Prithviraj and another one with Indrajith.

Drishyam is being produced under the banner of Ashirwad Cinemas.

ABCD's 100th day celebrated

Young star Dulquer Salmaan's ABCD, directed by Martin Prakkat, celebrated its 100 days of success. The function was held at Hotel Dream in Kochi. The film's cast, including Dulquer Salmaan, Jacob Gregory, Aparna Gopinath, Sreekumar, Lalu Alex and Nandu were resent at the occasion.

At the same venue, the teaser of Arun Kumar Aravind's 1 by Two was also launched.

The egoistic jawans

Now, no names here and this one have no confirmation as well. This is a gossip doing around in the filmi circles these days.

As per rumours, the set of a recently completed film witnessed more battles than the war film actually shot for the screen. There was a certain showdown between a director and an actor on the set.

And if reports are to be believed, the two heroes in the film were having lots of ego issues. Like, if one of them was wearing a blue socks, the other won't turn up if he too wasn't given a similar colour.

Now, it is to be seen how the heroes will look as jawans, considering their less than attractive bodies.

Manju Warrier in How Old Are You

After the Ranjith - Mohanlal film, Manju Warrier will join Rosshan Andrrews' How Old Are You. The film is being produced by Listin Stephen's Magic Frames and has been scripted by Bobby - Sanjay.

Manju had quit films after her marriage to Dileep but is making her comeback after a decade. The hero was never fine with her decision to act but it is said that the marriage is going through to a rough patch.

Kunchacko Boban plays the hero in How Old Are You.

Aashiq is back with Idukki Gold

It's said to be a "Joint Agenda". And for all those who are unaware of what the makers were thinking while creating the Idukki Gold trailer, it could mean getting high with weed!

Anyways, director Aashiq Abu's trailer is a hit all the way. It is beautiful, funny and is unapologetically on the face. The film has Pratap Pothen, Raveendran, Vijayaraghavan and Maniyan Pillai Raju who is revisiting their school days.

The film will hit the screens this October.

Mohanlal comes to Nivin's rescue

As the controversy over Nivin Pauly's refusal to pick superstar's Mohanlal's phone call is getting widely discussed on the social media, the controversy seems to have ended in a nice way. On his Facebook page, Mohanlal wrote: "I saw some news regarding Nivin Pauly...It has got no relevance..."

Meanwhile, FEFKA General Secretary B Unnikrishnan has written on his Facebook page that he is surprised by calls asking if Nivin Pauly will be banned! There are no such plans, he clarifies.

Nivin clarifies his stance

Nivin Pauly, who is facing the wrath of Mohanlal fans after the episode where he allegedly refused to pick up superstar's phone calls repeatedly, has come up with a clarification in his Facebook page. It reads like this:

"There is a news spreading about me not picking MOHANLAL sir's call....honestly such an incident has never occurred... there is not even a single time where i have showed disrespect towards LAL sir or any other actors. i am extremely disappointed with this fake news.......I respect MOHANLAL sir as always..."

Now the ball is in Mohanlal's court. Will he give his version about the whole controversy? Watch this space for more.

Nivin ignores Mohanlal?

This has been one story doing the rounds during the past few weeks. But now it has come out in a film magazine and the social media is debating it threadbare.

The issue goes like this. Superstar Mohanlal called up young hero Nivin Pauly at least six times recently, to be part of his latest venture Gitanjali, directed by Priyadarshan. But it is said that Nivin didn't pick his call.

Innocent, who was with Mohanlal, then called up Nivin and asked him why was he ignoring the superstar. The report says that Nivin told Innocent that he is not interested in playing a supporting role in a Mohanlal film.

Is this story true? Nobody knows for sure. But Mohanlal's fans are up in arms against the young sensation.

REVIEW: ARIKIL ORAAL

REVIEW: ARIKIL ORAAL

Not quite thrilling

Dir: Sunil Ibrahim

Cast: Indrajith, Nivin Pauly, Remya Nambeeshan

Imagine this situation. You are watching a nail biting whodunit but you can guess the suspense so early. What will you be thinking then? You would want the story to take some surprising twists and turns.

But sadly in director Sunil Ibrahim's Arikil Oraal nothing of the sort happens. The story goes in highly predictable lines. And if you have seen a couple of films of the genre, this one will turn out to be disturbingly silly.

Sidhu (Indrajit) has joined the Kochi office of an ad company. He stays with Icha (Nivin Pauly), who works in an upmarket restaurant and Veena (Remya Nambeeshan), their friend.

After a while, the trouble starts. Sidhu finds Icha's behavior strange. Why? Check it out for yourself.

The film has been packaged very well and is meant for those who don't think while watching a movie. The script is shaky and the performances are just about fine.

REVIEW: KUNJANANTHANTE KADA

REVIEW: KUNJANANTHANTE KADA

An empty shop

Dir: Salim Ahamed

Cast: Mammootty, Nyla Usha

Writer-director Salim Ahamed had stepped into stardom with his maiden venture, Adaminte Makan Abu. Naturally, his next film, Kunjananthante Kada got into top headlines, right from the moment the film was announced.

The film had everything that a top-notch production required. Besides Mammootty as the lead actor, cinematography by Madhu Ambat, sound design by Resul Pookkutty, background score by Isaac Thomas Kottukappilly and songs by M Jayachandran all added to its publicity. But what the viewers saw on screen was a badly shaped mishmash of some random thoughts.

Kunjananthan (Mammootty) owns a shop in a sleepy village in Kannur. He is having a rather confusing relationship with his wife Chithira (debutante Nyla Usha). He is passionate about just one thing in this world and that is his shop. And the building is owned by someone else. He is shattered when asked to vacate the building for road development.

The whole story is based on a weak premise and things go from bad to worse as the film moves along without any real direction. What is Kunjananthan's issue with his wife? We never know. Even if it is not for road development, what if the building owner decides to evict his tenant one fine day? We don't know that either.

And to top it all, Chithira laments to her husband that if he had given her a patient ear, she wouldn't have told her angsts to fake ids in chat rooms. Huh!

Some of those who go by big names or are only looking for irritatingly "feel good" movies may like this in parts. Even for them, this could end up as a tough ordeal. The rest of the viewers can just ignore this silly misadventure.

Dulquer as a romantic hero - in Pattam Pole

His tough guy look in Sameer Thahir's Neelakasham Pachakkadal Chuvanna Bhoomi has been well appreciated. His heroine in the film is debutante Malavika Mohanan, daughter of ace cinematographer K U Mohanan.

According to Azhagappan, Pattam Pole talks about the importance of making adjustments in life. The director is all praise about Dulquer and says that "after this film, he will be known as a romantic star for sure."

Nyla Usha becomes active

She was just an RJ based in Dubai until recent times but Nyla Usha has new descriptions to add to her profile right now. After making her debut opposite Mammootty in the recently released Kunjananthante Kada, she is currently playing the female lead in Ranjith Sankar's Punyalan Agarbathis, which has Jayasurya as the hero.

"I have worked for nine and a half years in Dubai as an RJ and the acting experience has been fantastic until now," says Nyla.

She hopes to do films taking a break from her busy days as an RJ, when good offers come her way.

Manju Warrier is back! - with Mohanlal

The speculations, the gossips and the waiting are over. Manju Warrier has finally said yes to movies. She will make her return to films, in Ranjith's next, which will have Mohanlal in the lead.

The actor has confirmed the news herself in her Facebook page and has received her advance from producer Antony Perumbavoor.

In fact, Manju had recently appeared in the ad for a garments and jewelry group in Kerala, with Amitabh Bachchan.

Manju Warrier is regarded as the finest female actor to have ever graced Malayalam screens and she had quit movies after her marriage to actor Dileep in 1999. The marriage, as per rumours, is going through a rough weather now.
